The electric outboard motor is perfectly suited for Finnish cabin boating in lake areas and sheltered sea areas. It offers an ecological and quiet way to enjoy domestic nature.
The advantages of an electric outboard motor are low maintenance costs, long service life, high reliability and easier use than a combustion engine. An electric outboard motor is also suitable for occasional use better than a combustion engine because it can withstand more bumps.
The Mergus X electric outboard motor is perfectly suited, for example, as an auxiliary motor for a small rowing boat or for temporary use in rubber boats. One of Mergus' solid strengths is the high efficiency of the propeller. This means lower energy consumption and vibration-free use. And this is no wonder when the engine manufacturer is one of the largest manufacturers in the world.
The thrust of an electric outboard motor is usually clearly lower than a gasoline-powered outboard motor and it may be insufficient, for example, in strongly flowing rapids or in sea areas with strong winds.
Mergus characteristics
The Mergus X-series FOC motor control provides efficient and fast control of torque at both high and low rotational speeds. In connection with a carbon brushless motor, FOC control also means better efficiency, less waste heat and quieter running noise.
Complete engine protection protects e.g. from overheating, reverse connection, undervoltage, etc.
Mergus highlights e.g. following features that provide better performance than most other brands.
Stainless steel shaft (316), also suitable for salt water.
X series carbon brushless motor with FOC Vector (sine wave) control.
Battery meter, low power warning
Stepless speed control
Depth adjustable

Choice of electric outboard motor
The choice of an electric outboard motor is most influenced by the boat in use, the weight of the boat and those on board, the operating conditions and the intended use time. In general, you should choose the next larger machine that meets the user's needs. This enables the engine to be used in slightly stronger wind conditions and brings additional comfort and safety to boating.
There is a diverse set of machines on the market, including slightly more affordable machines with quality brands, but their use value is often clearly lower than the original. The price differences of electric outboard motors between copies and originals are very small, and original manufacturers often have longer warranty periods and high-quality quality control.
Use of electric outboard motor
The electric outboard motor is ideal, for example, for trolling, as an auxiliary motor for an excursion canoe, or behind a cottage beach dinghy for short trips to check nets and catfish.
