The Sunwind Heat 300Ah Li-ion battery is the battery for those who want a lithium battery for applications where long life, fast charging and use in cold conditions are important. An internal heating membrane preheats the battery if it is charged at a higher current when the battery temperature drops below 0°C.
Traditional lithium batteries cannot be charged in sub-zero temperatures. The Lithium Battery Heat has a thermal film around the battery cells. It uses part of the energy supplied to the battery to heat the film, which ensures that the cells reach a certain temperature so that the lithium battery can be charged. The thermal film does not draw its energy from the battery itself, but always from an external charging source.
Li-ion Heat 300Ah is capable of replacing a typical 2 x 260Ah or 2 x 290Ah battery bank, as it can be safely discharged up to 90-95%. AGM batteries using traditional battery technology have a max discharge rate of around 50%.
The battery has integrated Bluetooth, so you can read the battery status from your smartphone's Sunwind app.
The integrated BMS takes care of all safety aspects of the lithium battery and allows for a continuous 150A load. If the charging current becomes too high, it switches on the heating film and cuts the charge until the cell temperature is above -0C. The heating film uses about 7A of the incoming current at that time.
As the Li-ion Heat 300Ah is equipped with a heating film, it is recommended to use the generator in winter to allow fast charging. This feature allows for a very long battery life and short charging time.
When charging the battery in sub-zero temperatures, the battery will first warm up to 0°C. If the temperature of the battery cell is -15°C, it will run at about. 45 minutes to reach the correct temperature before it allows a full charge current.
