Samyang 8mm f/3.5 UMC Fisheye CS II is a manual focus fisheye lens for APS-C cell cameras, mirrorless and DSLR cameras. The lens is also available for Micro Four Thirds mount (Olympus and Panasonic).
The lens produces a 180-degree angle of view (167 degrees in the Canon version) and fills the entire APS-C format, unlike round fisheye lenses that produce a circular image with black edges.
The lens hood is removable, which allows the Samyang 8mm f/3.5 UMC Fisheye CS II lens to be used also on full-frame cameras, where it produces an almost round, heavily vignetting image. The effect is desired when aiming for the widest possible viewing angle, for example when filming a panoramic or 360° VR image.
The optical structure consists of 10 lens elements in 7 groups, one of which is an aspherical lens. The lenses have the Ultra Multi Coating (UMC) coating developed by Samyang, which improves image contrast and light transmission.
