Garmin Alpha 50 is a GPS/GLONASS positioning system for hunting dogs. The system can track up to 20 dogs at a distance of up to 14.5 km. The device updates the location every 2.5 seconds, i.e. half as fast as its predecessor when the number of dogs to be tracked is twice as large. The intuitive and easy-to-use Alpha 50 is equipped with a bright 2.6-inch screen, preloaded with a European leisure map (1:100,000). The new Hunt Metrics dog data helps to analyze the tracking patterns and behavior of dogs and to train dogs more efficiently.
When the location of the dogs is sent using the Garmin T 5 or T 5 mini transmitter collar (available as a package or separately) up to every 2.5 seconds, the Alpha 50 sees the dogs' route precisely. You can see the dog's current location and the route it has taken on the Alpha device's bright, sharp screen. In addition, you can go to the dog's tracking page, where the compass shows the dog's location. You will be alerted when the dog starts barking, and you can monitor the barking closely by looking at the barks per minute and the bark counter. When you track several dogs, you can see the whole picture by automatically zooming the map page so that you can always see all the dogs. Dogs that are too far away for the current zoom scale of the map can be displayed on the edge of the screen with the direction of the dog's location. You can clarify the map by choosing how long each dog's track is displayed on the screen. The options are show all, show some, and don't show. You can also give your dog's tracking code to another person so they can view your dog's location on a map and tracking compass. By sharing the dog control code, you can also let another person set up and control the dog's collar device.
Like all Garmin outdoor products, the Alpha 50 is designed to be powerful, easy to use, reliable, and durable enough to handle all the bumps, bumps, and rough conditions associated with training and hunting. The handheld device is waterproof according to the IPX7 standard. It can be powered by regular AA batteries or an optional durable NiMH battery that is charged inside the device. If you lose the Alpha 50, it will stand out from its surroundings thanks to its orange color.
