Riista-Elo is a granular supplementary feed for supplementary feeding of wild ruminants. It is suitable for autumn and winter supplementary feeding of white-tailed and fallow deer and roe deer. Riista-Elo is also suitable for hares and rabbits.
Advantages and benefits
- Game safe composition
- The moderate protein content and high amount of digestible fibers support the digestive tract
- Contains vitamin and mineral and trace element supplementation
Start feeding in autumn, gradually increasing the dose for about two weeks. A suitable starting dose is about 100-300 g per animal per day. After the habituation period, the dose is about 500-1000 g per animal. A suitable daily dose for hares and rabbits is about 25-100 g per animal.
In addition to supplementary feeding, wild game animals also always use natural food. When implementing supplementary feeding, attention should be paid to the quality of the feed offered. The composition of the feed must not deviate too much from the animal's natural diet. The available feed must also not spoil. Supplemental feeding based solely on grain feeding can cause digestive problems for wild ruminants during the winter season. A large amount of grain lowers the pH of the rumen, which reduces the rumen's ability to break down starch.
It is difficult to get the amount of liquid from frozen snow that supports the rumination and digestion of food by deer and roe deer and is necessary in terms of energy economy. In addition to the offered Riista-Elo, there should also be liquid food, such as apples, root vegetables and potatoes. Accustoming the animals to supplementary feeding at Riista-Elo should start well in the fall. Then the animals' bodies have time to get used to high-quality feed before winter. Feeding should always be continued through the winter, the animals that are being fed will disperse to the summer pastures of their own accord.
