Nintendo Switch 2 features a 7.9-inch Full HD (1080p) LCD screen that delivers a crisp and clear picture even when you're on the move. The device is as thick as the original Switch, but offers smoother graphics and more detail thanks to improved CPU and GPU performance. This enables faster load times and more visually stunning games.
The new Joy-Con 2 controllers attach magnetically to the console and also act as sliding pointers, allowing for versatile control in games such as aiming games. An adjustable stand on the back of the console allows for optimal viewing angles in table mode.
Nintendo Switch 2 has two USB-C ports: one at the bottom and one at the top, so you can charge the console while you play. You can also connect a USB-C camera to the top port for GameChat video chat. The sound is more balanced and immersive, especially in handheld and desktop modes.
Storage capacity is 256 GB, eight times more than the original Switch. The device only supports microSD Express cards, which offer faster transfer speeds. Switch 2 supports most of the original Switch's games, both digitally and physically, and the Joy-Cons and Pro Controller work wirelessly with the new model.
Through the dock, Nintendo Switch 2 can stream video at up to 4K resolution and play at up to 120 fps on compatible games and TVs.
New features include GameShare and GameChat
GameShare allows you to share and play games together with a single game license, either locally or online. GameChat allows you to chat by voice while you play. These features work cross-platform between different console models and also support family group sharing.
Virtual game cartridges make it easier to manage and borrow digital games between family members. Games can be downloaded to two consoles and played offline.
Accessibility and parental controls
Nintendo Switch 2 offers a wide range of accessibility features such as font size adjustment, screen reader and voice chat in GameChat. Parents can control their children's playtime and access rights with the Nintendo Switch Parental Control app. Children under the age of 16 need parental permission to start using GameChat.
