Quinoa can be used, for example, in porridges, risottos, pie filling, boxes, desserts and pastries. Finnish organic quinoa with its own taste is a welcome gluten-free option, which is also suitable for those on a normal diet.
Quinoa seeds contain a lot of protein. The protein contains nine essential amino acids for humans in just the right ratio. Arginine is an important amino acid that is abundant in quinoa. Thanks to arginine, nitric oxide starts to be released into the body, which improves blood circulation.
In addition, quinoa is rich in three important amino acids leucine, isoleucine and valine, these amino acids help our muscles recover. Quinoa also contains dietary fibers and the trace elements phosphorus, magnesium, iron and calcium. Quinoa is also suitable for people with a grain allergy because, like grains, it does not contain gluten. The fat in the seed (5-6%) consists mainly of unsaturated fatty acids, about half of which are linoleic acids, which are essential for humans. Quinoa contains slow carbohydrates that help you last longer during heavy workouts and keep the feeling of hunger at bay. With these properties, quinoa is perfectly suited to an athlete's diet.
Quinoa must be rinsed before use and the seeds can be used whole, ground, boiled or roasted. When cooked, the seed binds water and is almost translucent when ripe. Boiled quinoa has a mild and nutty taste. When roasting, some strains pop like corn kernels.
