The composter is placed on a load-bearing base in a place where standing water does not accumulate. Filling begins with an airy base layer. Waste is added in layers. Moisture, fluffiness and sufficient nutrients must be taken care of. The adjustable air valve on the lid of the composter is kept open in summer and closed in winter. Biolan Compost and Huusskuivike or twig chips added to the waste add fluffiness to the compost.
MOISTURE: The waste on the edge of the garden compost dries quickly. Biola's Garden Compostor retains moisture better than a board frame. The humidity is suitable when the compost mass looks moist and shiny. When squeezing the pulp, a few drops of water should come off.
NUTRIENTS: Compost should have an appropriate carbon-nitrogen ratio. Green garden waste, manure, urine, Biolan Compost booster and kitchen waste contain nitrogen. Dead waste such as burnt hay, straw, tree leaves, branches, Compost and Huusskuivike contain carbon.
The contents of the composter should be turned over once or twice a year. In this way, the non-rotten edge parts are placed in the hottest place in the center of the compost. The composter is emptied by lifting the device off the top of the compost mass. In a garden composter, garden waste matures into compost soil in about 1–2 years.
