Instructions for use
Attach the Yato Stone Wall Drill SDS+ to a compatible SDS+ drill. Make sure the blade is properly attached and select the correct impact drill function.
Place the drill bit directly against the surface to be drilled, making sure the angle is correct for an accurate hole.
Use the appropriate pressure, do not force the blade too much to avoid overheating and loss of durability.
After drilling, thoroughly clean the blade of dust and debris to ensure a long life.
Choosing the right drill bit
When choosing the right drill bit, it is important to understand the differences between the various clamping systems and the importance of the drill bit head design for the efficiency and accuracy of the drilling operation. Here we compare two common drill bit systems - SDS+ and SDS Max - and standard drill chucks. We also discuss the differences between double-head and four-head drill bits.
SDS+ vs SDS Max vs Normal chuck
SDS+ and SDS Max are both attachment systems that are mainly used in impact drills, especially for drilling hard materials such as concrete, brick and stone. The standard chuck (key or quick chuck), on the other hand, is more commonly used at home and is better suited to lighter jobs.
SDS+
Diameter: usually 4-26 mm
Applications: small and medium drilling and boring jobs
Popular for professional use with small to medium drill diameters.
Improved impact resistance compared to a standard chuck.
SDS+ drill bits lock in place with a quick "push-fit" mechanism, eliminating the need for traditional tightening.
Particularly good for drill bit clamping and fast working conditions where impact force and torque are required.
SDS Max
Diameter: usually 12-52 mm
Applications: large drilling and boring jobs (e.g. foundation penetrations)
For heavier and more demanding jobs compared to SDS+.
Very high impact resistance, but mainly used for industrial or large construction projects.
Usually requires more powerful drilling machines designed for larger diameters and deeper drilling.
Standard chuck (key chuck or quick chuck)
Diameter: usually 1-13 mm
Applications: light drilling work in wood, metal or softer materials.
For drill bits in metal or soft materials, requires manual tightening to hold the drill bit firmly in place.
Not suitable for hard material or impact drills, as the impact force can damage the seat and the drill bit.
Summary:
SDS+ is suitable for medium sized drilling jobs in concrete and stone, and is a common choice because it offers a good balance between performance and usability.
SDS Max is reserved for larger, heavier construction jobs where high impact power and drill bit durability are required.
The standard chuck is a good choice for light-duty home drilling jobs, but will not withstand hard impacts or heavy drilling materials.
Double-headed vs Four-headed drill bits
The geometry of the drill bit tip plays a major role in drilling efficiency and accuracy. Double-headed and four-headed bits (such as the Yato Stone Wall Drill SDS+ Premium) differ in terms of tip design.
Double head drill bit (Double head)
A traditional double-headed drill bit with two blades.
A good compromise between efficiency and durability, especially for light and medium drilling jobs.
Well suited for occasional use and smaller drilling jobs where very high accuracy or speed is not required.
A cheaper option, but not as durable or fast as the four-head blade for heavier applications.
Quadro head drill bit
A more advanced head design with four cutting edges.
Four cutting points distribute pressure more evenly, allowing faster and more accurate drilling.
Better heat control, as the blade does not heat up as quickly as the double-headed version.
Particularly suitable for hard materials such as concrete, stone and reinforced concrete where maximum accuracy and durability are required.
More expensive, but longer lasting and better performance.
Summary:
The double-ended blade is cost-effective and adequate for most small to medium sized drilling jobs.
The four-headed blade offers better durability, speed and accuracy, especially in demanding and hard materials, and is the best choice for professionals who frequently work with hard materials.
Summary of fastening systems and drill bit head design
When choosing the right drill bit, it is worth considering the material to be drilled and the requirements of the job:
SDS+ is an excellent choice for medium sized drilling jobs and offers a good balance between performance and usability.
SDS Max is designed for large and heavy drilling, especially for industrial applications.
The standard chuck is suitable for lighter, non-percussive drilling in softer materials.
The double-ended blade is sufficient for many smaller drilling jobs, but if you're doing heavier and more demanding drilling, the four-ended blade offers better performance and durability.
By choosing the right combination of clamping system and blade design, you can ensure your work goes quickly, accurately and safely.
Warnings
Always wear safety glasses and hearing protection when working with impact drills.
Do not use the blade on soft materials such as wood or metal as this can damage the blade and reduce its life.

Product comparison
The Yato Stone Wall Drill SDS+ Premium is a competitive alternative to other well-known brands such as Bosch SDS+ and Hilti SDS+. Bosch offers high-quality blades with a special carbide tip and good heat resistance, but Yato SDS+ Premium stands out for its excellent price-performance ratio. Hilti, on the other hand, offers very durable and precise performance, but is often significantly more expensive than Yato. Yato therefore offers a quality alternative that matches the performance of the well-known brands, but at a lower price.
