Toothbrushes – a beautiful smile starts with a healthy mouth

Teeth should be brushed twice a day, using dental floss. A suitable brushing time is two minutes, and during that time you should go through the whole mouth. Teeth should be cleaned carefully, but you should avoid scrubbing too hard so that the gums don’t recede and the enamel doesn’t suffer. When brushing, clean all surfaces of the teeth, including the inner surfaces. A healthy mouth gives you a beautiful smile!

How to choose the right toothbrush?

A toothbrush should be the right size and soft enough, but at the same time it should be sufficiently firm. So the choice isn’t quite that simple. There isn’t one specific type of toothbrush that suits everyone—your brush should be chosen according to your own brushing style. A brush that is too hard can damage the gums, while a brush that is too soft may leave your teeth feeling unclean.

If you’re a heavy-handed scrubber who brushes with a strong hand, choose a soft (soft) or extra soft (ultra soft) toothbrush. If, on the other hand, you brush very gently, you may need a firmer brush to remove plaque. In that case, choose something slightly stiffer, such as a medium brush.

Does the bristle head need to be shaped, rounded or grooved? The answer depends entirely on your preference. If you feel that a certain design makes daily brushing better, or if you feel your teeth get cleaner, then that brush is the right one for you.

Use dental floss at least once a day and a suitable toothpaste with every brushing. The toothbrush should be rinsed clean after each use. Always place the toothbrush upright in a toothbrush cup and let it dry so that moisture can evaporate and germs can’t take over.

Electric toothbrush or a regular toothbrush?

Is it better to choose an electric toothbrush or a regular toothbrush? What about an ultrasonic toothbrush? Again, this is a matter of preference. According to studies, an electric toothbrush has the potential to produce a cleaner result—but only when it’s used as recommended. An electric toothbrush does the scrubbing work for you, so someone who tends to brush too aggressively may benefit a lot from the gentle buzz of an electric brush.

Some people feel that the power of an electric toothbrush isn’t enough to achieve a truly clean result. An electric toothbrush also needs to be kept charged so brushing is possible when you need it. The brush, charging base and replacement heads take up more space in the bathroom. With the right toothbrush and proper technique, you can achieve just as good a result with a regular toothbrush as with an electric one.
