The Robota field band saw can saw logs up to 55-60cm in diameter with a length of about 3.2m using a standard saw table. If longer logs are to be sawn, a separate extension is available to increase the log length to over 5.2m. The sawmill can saw all types of timber. The logs are fixed to the saw table by means of log clamps and side supports. The height of the saw head, which also determines the thickness of the timber to be sawn, is precisely adjusted by a separate comb. The crank is lockable to ensure that the height cannot be changed during sawing. The sawing itself is carried out by moving the saw head, or bell, steadily forward so that the blade hits the log and starts sawing. When the sawing is finished, the saw head is pulled back and lowered to the next sawing point.
The top of the sawing unit contains a water tank from which water is led directly to the blade for lubrication. The water supply provides a better sawing action and the water keeps the blade clean. Behind the blade there is a separate control arm that supports the blade during sawing. This ensures a precise and straight sawing action. Adjustment of the blade tension is simple and the blade remains correctly tensioned throughout the sawing process. With the Robota band saw there is very little wastage.

The band saw can be used for sawing normal board, plank, etc. In addition to this, the saw is an excellent choice for the manufacturer of e.g. D logs where one side of the wood is to be cut smooth.
