Pine is a very high quality and durable material for furniture. Pine is suitable for year-round outdoor use. However, it is important to keep wooden furniture dry and clean, as dirty and damp surfaces trap moisture and are subject to mould. Pine furniture can be protected by oiling, which protects the furniture from moisture. Furniture stored under a canopy should be oiled 1-2 times a season and furniture stored without a canopy 2-3 times a season. In winter, it is a good idea to protect the furniture from cold and snow. Oiling before the winter season should be done on dry wood and it is important to ensure that the surface is dry before storing. For painted surfaces, it is sufficient to clean and, if necessary, repaint the furniture.
FSC certification, maintained by the Forest Steward Council, is the international environmental organisations' response to global deforestation.
