Pirelli tyres are the aristocracy of tyres

Almost everyone recognises the Pirelli brand, and for anyone who follows motorsport, this Italian tyre specialist is close to cult status. Pirelli is currently the official tyre supplier for both the World Rally Championship and Formula 1. Pirelli is involved in more than 350 motorsport events each year, and most of them are among the toughest top-level series in the world.

Among tyre manufacturers, Pirelli is one of the largest—and no wonder, because its product range is extremely diverse. At the same time, this giant headquartered in Milan, Italy, is also one of the world’s oldest tyre makers: Pirelli was founded in 1872. Since 2015, the owners have been from China.

Innovation and cutting-edge technology behind the success

While many tyre manufacturers focus either on huge volumes at lower prices or on premium quality with smaller production runs, Pirelli combines both approaches. It can produce a wide range of different tyres in high volumes and at a very high level of quality.

Over 90% of Pirelli’s sales come from car tyres, and under 10% from tyres for motorcycles, mopeds, scooters, motocross bikes and other two- and three-wheeled vehicles. Of all these, more than 70% are so-called high-demand tyres, and Pirelli holds over half of the global market in this segment. It’s therefore very common for even luxury two- and four-wheelers to come with Pirelli tyres as standard equipment.

High quality for two-wheelers

Pirelli’s tyre range for two-wheeled vehicles is truly extensive. Whether you’re looking for tyres and wheels for a bicycle, scooter, moped, motorcycle, motocross or off-road bike, there’s a solution for all of them—or more precisely, there are plenty of options from Pirelli for all of them. In motorcycle tyres, the selection covers touring bikes, enduros and sport bikes alike.

The criteria for choosing tyres naturally vary depending on the vehicle and personal preferences. Tyre sizes and other dimensions, as well as compound softness levels, vary of course—but there is also a wide range of tread patterns. A more aggressive tread means compromises in high-speed stability on hard surfaces and more tyre noise, but in two areas Pirelli does not compromise at all: grip on both wet and dry surfaces, and durability.
