The globe is a stylized model with two patterns of decorative continents, a rotating mechanism and surprising little additional features that make the model even more interesting. All details are high-quality environmentally friendly plywood, cut with a precise laser. No glue or additional tools are needed to assemble the globe.
The main module of the model consists of two parts: a globe and a platform with a mechanism. The globe of the Earth sits on an axis that is tilted at the same angle as the Earth's axis. Like most Ugears models, the globe is animated using a rubber band motor. However, in this case, the motor uses a different type of winding method. A lever on the bottom pulled fully clockwise will fully reverse the mechanism. As soon as the lever is released, the gears start working. To slow down the rotation of the globe, the globe uses a pendulum reduction mechanism. But if you want it to spin even slower, you can manually rotate the globe and watch the Continents slowly fly by.
In addition to the main module, the model has two exchangeable additional modules: Shuttle and Sputnik. Choose which satellite you want orbiting your Earth today and attach it to a special support. The satellites are also powered by rubber band motors and are connected to the main module using a planetary gear. Thanks to this connection, the satellites rotate almost twice as fast as the Earth, making almost two full revolutions in one pull of the winding lever.
