Nature offers an endless number of wonderful subjects for the artist. You can draw inspiration from urban nature, parks and gardens, as well as from nostalgic country landscapes and rugged wild nature. Plants and fruits with their clear shapes are classic exercises for a beginner draftsman, but how can the gaze of a bird of prey, the softness of a lamb's fur or the sensitive nature of a deer be immortalized on paper?
The nearly 200-page practice section of the versatile guidebook helps refine technique and practice hand-eye cooperation. The draftsman can choose any of dozens of individual subjects and work on it from the first sketches to the finished drawing. First we outline the shape, then we improve the lines and finally we develop the shape with shading.
In the special chapters that offer in-depth information, e.g. drawing materials, surfaces and structures, perspective, light and shadow and effects created with different materials.
