The first Moomin story, Moomins and the Great Flood, was published 80 years ago in 1945. To mark the occasion, in May, Swiss Post will release stamps designed by James Zambra, with illustrations and colours inspired by the commemorative design.
Moomins and the Great Deluge is a comforting and adventurous story of a displaced family and their search to find a home. The story ends in a place that will become known as Moomin Valley.
"The illustrations on the stamps reflect the themes of the centenary year, which are togetherness, time spent together, a sense of security and space to be yourself," says James Zambra, creative director of Moomin Characters.
