The first few pages bring the story of four dirty scoundrels to a close. In the second adventure, Tex and Captain Jim Brandon of the Redcoats embark on a long pursuit of Roger Goudret, the dangerous instigator of Indian rebellions, across the French-speaking regions of Canada. There, the people harbour a deep-seated hatred for the English-speaking Canadians, whom they regard as conquerors, and do everything in their power to protect the rebels, whose fervent aim is to secede from the empire.
