The STIHL maintenance kit for the 18 MS 162 and MS 172 models contains the following parts for routine maintenance:

The STIHL air filter, made from fibre material, provides good filtration quality under a variety of operating conditions. Coarse dirt particles stick to the surface of the filter, whilst fine dirt particles remain inside the filter. This reliably protects your chainsaw’s engine against abrasive dust, helps maintain the saw’s performance and keep fuel consumption low, and ensures that you can continue to start your machine without any problems.
It is also advisable to replace the spark plug regularly to maintain performance. This is the basis for clean combustion in the engine. The fuel filter must also be replaced regularly to ensure it functions reliably.
When replacing the air filter and spark plug, it is best to use the handy combination socket tool supplied with your STIHL chainsaw. The maintenance kit packaging itself features an integrated cardboard hook that can be used to conveniently remove and replace the fuel filter. You won’t need any other tools for the job.
