Fluorocarbon line resists abrasion and pike teeth better than monofilament line. Fluorocarbon is used to make jigs on fiber line and it can be used to build a Dropshot rig or a quick lock can be attached to its end and a lure can be attached to it. When used at the end of the fiber line, the jig slows down the sinking of the lure. Fluorocarbon is also suitable as a lure for fly fishermen. The fluorocarbon line is almost invisible in the water and can be used to fish timid fish in clear waters. The material is dense, almost non-stretchable and sinks faster than traditional monofilament. Fluorocarbon fishing line is commonly used for ice fishing and fishing.
