Detail
Just what you need from a backpack's side pocket, no wonder. The fabric-covered zipper is protected from water, dirt and wear. Vertical tape loops on the front wall of the pocket keep the side compression straps of the backpack neatly in place on top of the pocket, evenly compressing the pocket as well as the backpack itself. These can also be used, for example, to attach rubber cords and carabiner hooks.
A 25 mm ribbon loop and a D-ring at the top of the back wall act as a securing point for small valuables, a flat inner compartment provides simple organization for small items. The bottom and the lower parts of the sides are reinforced with 210D mountain fabric. The water drainage hole at the bottom of the pocket takes care of any water that may have gotten into the pocket.
On the back, you can find our usual PALS brackets with folding ends. The middle horizontal alley strips have been omitted, they provided nothing more than extra weight. Although we are not a manufacturer of ultralight equipment, we still do not like unnecessary weight.
Usage examples
As a moderately small pocket, only about four liters, this can't fit anything gigantic. On the other hand, this is also suitable for attaching to quite small backpacks where the width and height of the sides are limited. Here are a few examples of what to pack for this:
- Medium-sized awning fabric and accessories
- A light padded break jacket, rain suit or rain cape
- A regular 1.5 liter drinking bottle, and a little something else
- 0.7 liter food thermos
- Jetboil camping stove and one gas cartridge
