The carrying system is based on the traditional and proven reliable LJK frame, an external frame made of aluminum tube, and offers stepless adjustment for users of different heights. This rucksack is designed to carry very heavy loads, just as its predecessors have done in the service of the Finnish Defense Forces since the 1980s.
Rolltop closure at the top, zipper hatch at the bottom and midsole that can be opened/closed with drawstrings in between. By opening the intermediate base, the backpack becomes one large, unified space. The bottom zipper provides quick access to the supplies you need throughout the day, the rolltop closure on the top ensures reliable weather protection for your larger equipment.
A zippered pocket on the inside of the flap offers a safe storage place for keys, wallet, travel documents and phone. Inside the bottom zip hatch, there are flexible fastening straps against the back and four small mesh pockets for organizing small items.
The PALS webbing on the hip belt, on the sides, on the bottom of the flap allows additional pockets and equipment to be attached to the backpack. This attachment system offers countless options for user-specific customization of the backpack. In addition to the pockets, you can attach loose straps, rubber cord tensioners, spring clips, etc. to the strap on the bottom.
The hip belt is attached to the frame with a tensionable horizontal support piece and PALS strap fasteners. By detaching the hip belt from the chest, it can be used as an independent equipment belt with additional pockets, in which case it functions as a kind of daypack or complements a smaller daypack. The length of the lap belt can be adjusted from 70 to 140 cm, the belt is best suited for users whose waist-hip gap (measured from the level where you want the top edge of the lap belt to sit) is around 80-110 cm.
When carrying heavy loads over long distances, the comfort and correct dimensions of the carrier are absolutely important features. The height-adjustable shoulder straps and hip belt enable the Jääkäri XL to be adjusted for 160-200 cm tall users, steplessly. The external LJK frame transfers the weight of the chest to the hips and keeps even heavy loads neatly in place.
Both shoulder pads and hip belt are thickly padded with thermoformed closed-cell plastic. The shoulder straps are S-shaped and include a removable chest strap.
