- Lyogenic effect: The effect of Sanocyn Forte products is based on the body's own defense molecule, hypochlorous acid (HOCl), which is an effective but gentle antiseptic.
- Kills pathogens - gentle on tissues: HOCl effectively destroys bacteria, viruses and fungi, but does not damage animal or human tissue.
- High HOCl concentration: Effective concentration: 0.05% or 500 ppm - optimal antimicrobial effect.

Hypochlorous acid is not recommended for use in combination with other wound cleansing agents containing silver, iodine or polyhexanide, for example. Other antiseptics can remain in the tissue and react with HOCl or change its pH, which in turn can reduce the activity of HOCl.
