Gift set “50 years of VW Golf 1 GTi”: Congratulations, legend!
There are cars that just drive. And then there is the Golf 1 GTi. 50 years ago, this compact "people's athlete" revolutionized the roads and founded a completely new class of vehicle. He made sportiness democratic and affordable for everyone. With this exclusive 50th anniversary gift set, you can bring this milestone in automotive history home. The best thing about it: you don't have to worry about accessories. Since the right paints, glue and brushes are already included, you can immediately travel back in time to when 110 hp on a curb weight of 810 kg meant pure ecstasy.
Why this set is the perfect gift for car fans
• Everything included: As a gift set, the box already contains the necessary Aqua Color paints, a brush and the Contacta Professional Mini glue.
• Freedom of choice: Build either the classic production GTi or the special version from the famous historic VW commercial.
• International options: You can choose to build the model as a left- or right-hand drive and, thanks to the extensive decals, attach license plates from 10 different countries.
• Technology in detail: Under the movable hood there is a multi-part replica of the legendary engine that put the competition in fear.
• Authentic interior: From the gear knob in golf ball design to the sporty dashboard, everything that defines the GTi is there.
The Golf 1 GTi was the “wolf in sheep’s clothing”. With its flares on the wheel arches, the red decorative frame on the radiator grille and the larger front spoiler, it subtly but firmly showed who was the boss in the left lane. This 1:24 scale model captures exactly that charm.
With 121 pieces and level 4, the kit is ideal for hobbyists who enjoy details. You put the body, chassis and detailed engine compartment together and paint the parts in the original colors. It's a tribute to a time when driving pleasure was more important than driving assistance systems - a perfect project for fathers, grandfathers and anyone with petrol in their blood.
Background information
When the VW Golf GTi came onto the market in 1976, no one expected this success. A small car that chased sports cars? Unheard of! But the 110 hp injection engine catapulted the lightweight into regions that had previously been reserved for expensive coupes. It became the epitome of the “hot hatch” and influenced generations of drivers. 50 years later, with this kit we are celebrating the forefather of all compact sports cars, which still enjoys cult status today.
