How to choose the right brush for exterior painting

The choice of the right brush depends on the size and type of surface to be painted and the paint to be used. For painting large surfaces, such as walls, it is best to choose a wider brush, such as a 100 mm brush. For areas that require more precise work, such as corners and edges, a 70 mm brush is a better choice. The versatility and value for money of Procat brushes make them an ideal choice for do-it-yourself projects.

Warnings

Avoid leaving the brush in the paint for long periods of time as this can damage the bristles.

Keep brushes out of the reach of children.

Synthetic vs. Natural Bristle Brushes: Comparison

When choosing the right brush for your painting project, it is important to understand the differences between synthetic and natural brushes. Both types have their advantages and are suitable for different applications.

Synthetic bristles

Synthetic bristles are made from materials such as nylon, polyester or blends of the two. They are common, especially in less expensive brushes, and offer several advantages:

    Durability.

    Versatility.

Easy to clean: synthetic bristles do not absorb paint as easily as natural bristles, making them easier to clean.

Affordability. They are traditional painting tools and offer unique advantages for certain types of painting projects:

    Paint finish.

Absorbency: Natural bristles absorb more paint, which can be useful when painting large surfaces because it reduces the time it takes to wet the paint.

    Flexibility.

Use and selection tips

When choosing a brush, consider the specific requirements of your painting project:

    Water-resistant paints.

    Oil-based paints and varnishes.

Cost-effectiveness. This will ensure that you achieve the best possible results.
