The Polaroid charging controller works e.g. Polaroid SP50 and SP100 with solar panel cases. It has a USB port where you can directly charge a phone, for example. You can also charge different types of batteries (sealed, gel or flooded) with it.
The PWM charging controller is designed for small photovoltaic systems and its use is justified when the cable runs of the solar panels are short and/or the panel powers are relatively small. Maximum 120 W (12V) / 300W (24V) systems.
