The OMRON M2 Essential is a clinically validated upper arm blood pressure monitor with a soft medium-sized cuff (arm circumference 22–32 cm). It is extremely important to ensure the correct cuff size before purchasing a blood pressure monitor, as using an incorrect size may lead to unreliable results. Although the M2 Essential is a basic-level monitor, it offers a wide range of excellent features. Intellisense technology ensures a fast and comfortable measurement by preventing unnecessary over-inflation of the cuff. Once the cuff is in place and the device starts measuring, an “OK” symbol appears on the display to indicate that the cuff is properly fitted. If the symbol does not appear, the cuff should be tightened slightly. The device also detects potential irregular heartbeats during measurement and alerts the user. The body movement detection feature notifies the user if there is too much movement during measurement, which could affect accuracy. A specific symbol will appear on the display in such cases, and it is recommended to repeat the measurement. The high blood pressure indicator is shown on the display if the reading exceeds the recommended level. The device stores the last 30 readings in memory.
