One of the key features of the 055XPRO3 is its 90° center column mechanism that allows the column to be raised vertically as usual, or horizontally to open up new framing and shooting possibilities; this makes the 055XPRO3 an extremely versatile tripod, suitable for a wide range of photography and video applications. The horizontal column mechanism is housed in the tripod's upper aluminum crown for compactness, but it's easy and quick to angle when you need it. Switching between vertical and horizontal pillars requires no disassembly, and can even be done with a camera attached.
The legs of the 055XPRO3 stand are also quick to extend and adjust, thanks to the Quick Power locking knobs that lock and release each leg section. The special design of the QPL knob allows a more convenient one-handed operation of all leg parts in one moment. The QPL lever design also offers more powerful locking of each section, meaning the stand is more stable and rigid than traditional leg locks. Intuitive and ergonomic leg angle selectors allow each leg to be independently and stably set to any of the preset angles, allowing great positioning freedom.
A spirit level is built into the top of the center pillar for precise framing. The spirit level rotates freely around the center column, so it can be placed where it's easiest for you to see it while adjusting the tripod, and without being either obscured by the mounted head and camera, or getting in the way of the head or camera controls.
The upper leg mount of the 055XPRO3 has an Easy Link socket for attaching an image or video accessory (eg an LED light, flash, reflector, or other equipment) to an accessory arm or bracket, turning the tripod into a practical mobile studio.
The X-PRO three-way head has retractable knobs making it extremely compact, and also features new friction controls, to balance the weight of camera gear so precise adjustments can be made with the locking knobs open, then just lock it when you're ready to shoot.
