It's no coincidence that the traditional cast iron skillet is one of the best-selling cooking utensils in the world. Properly maintained, it will last forever and is very easy to maintain. Cast iron as a material is not only safe, it can withstand extremely hot temperatures and its excellent heat retention gives the pans a wonderful crisp, airy texture. Cast iron is suitable for all cookers, including induction.
Clean the cast iron pan with hot water and a dish brush, and if dirt has adhered more firmly to the surface, boiling water in the pan will loosen it. Occasionally it is recommended to degrease the cast iron to preserve the natural non-stick coating. Do not use dishwashing detergent or put the pan in a dishwasher, as this will destroy the fat coating on the pan.
