It's no coincidence that the traditional cast iron skillet is one of the best-selling cooking utensils in the world. Properly maintained, it will last forever and is very easy to maintain. Cast iron is not only a safe material, it can withstand very hot temperatures and its excellent heat retention makes it unrivalled for cooking steaks, for example. Cast iron is suitable for all cookers, including induction.
Clean the cast iron pan with hot water and a dish brush, and if dirt has adhered more firmly to the surface, boiling water in the pan will loosen it. Occasionally it is recommended to degrease the cast iron to preserve the natural non-stick coating. Do not use dishwashing detergent or put the pan in a dishwasher, as this will destroy the fat coating on the pan.
