Maurice De Bevere, or Morris, created his best-known cartoon character, Lucky Luke, in 1946. The first appearance of the western hero in album format was in 1949, when the stories Dick Digger's Gold Mine and Kaksoisolento, originally published in the spring of 1947, were published as a compiled unit. Lucky Luke's First Steps is a guaranteed original anarchist western humor, where a man of action faces bandits and hostile Indians with bullets and fists swinging.
