Makkaraputki is a soapstone ‘sausage roll’ with a difference, perfect for cooking juicy, crispy sausages on your sauna stove. Prior to using the device for the first time, wash it carefully with a brush and let it dry completely. Prior to heating up the stove, make sure there is a suitable spot on the stones for the Makkaraputki, which should be placed in a slightly slanting position.
Most sausages are suitable for cooking inside the Makkaraputki, provided they are not too thick in diameter.
It will take 15–20 minutes to cook the sausage, during which time you can bathe in your sauna as usual while the rolls are on the stove. You can also throw water onto the rolls, but not directly into them.
