The FSC certificate maintained by the Forest Steward Council is the response of international environmental organizations to global deforestation. Its goal is to maintain the forest's biodiversity, strengthen the position of local communities in forest management and ensure that no more wood is cut from the forest than it can produce. In the certificate, the stages of the wood production chain can be traced all the way from the finished product to the forest.
