The Italian Hugo Pratt (1927-1995) is one of the most famous and respected cartoon artists of all time. His stories about Onnensoturi Corto Maltese are evergreen classics that have conquered the hearts of Finnish readers as well. Pratt's cartoons are characterized by realistic stories and bold graphics emphasizing black and white contrasts. Now the wonderful war stories of this legendary comic artist are published in Finnish as a fine collection.
The first collection "Night of the Devil" tells two stories about warfare set in the jungle. In the title story, a patrol of British soldiers finds themselves in a nightmarish situation in the Burmese jungle. In another story, soldier Jack Green is branded by a bird of bad luck, and he has to do everything he can to prove to the men in his squad that the misfortunes that follow them have nothing to do with him.
