In January 2022, HEIROL signed the NO TO PFAS initiative of the environmental organization ChemSec as the FIRST Finnish operator. The movement aims to have several harmful fluorinated (PFAS) compounds - called "forever chemicals" because they do not break down in nature - phased out and banned.
