The specially treated black carbon steel has excellent non-stick properties and better corrosion resistance than ordinary carbon steel pans. Blacksteel carbon steel ingots are nitrided, after which they are heated in a furnace in nitrogen gas, which creates a hard black oxide layer on the surface of the steel. Blacksteel pans are also pre-treated with vegetable oil, which in itself also improves corrosion resistance.
The non-stick properties of Blacksteel pans improve with use. The 3 mm thick body does not bend even in heavy use.
The pan can withstand very high temperatures and is suitable for all stoves, ovens, grills and even open fires. The long and sturdy handle is attached with steel rivets. The pan heats up very quickly and has an energy-efficient heat pipe.
