Härmän Taonta Oy is a family business that manufactures high-quality tools with over 50 years of experience.
The company was founded by Uuno Puronvarsi on Maundy Thursday in 1961 in Alahärmä's Hanhimäki. This is when the first workshop building was completed. Uuno was practically a blacksmith from birth. After all, he was already in the fourth generation of blacksmiths. He got his real education in the 1940s and 1950s while forging in his father's workshop.
In the early years, Härmän Taonna's products were scythes, sickles and decorative objects. In the 1970s, manufacturing was increasingly focused on garden tools, with sales taking place through large central stores.
Even today, different types of scythes and other garden tools are Härmän Taonta Oy's main products. However, forest and winter tools as well as field and camping products have also come alongside. The secret of the company's longevity can be considered the experience and know-how needed in the manufacture of cutting tools, which has accumulated and grown over the decades.
Currently, the operation of Härmän Taonta Oy continues with the sixth generation of the Puronvarre family fighting with steel. Manufacturing techniques have changed over the years from the days of kilns, anvils and workshop hammers, but the products are still made both respecting tradition and using modern methods. In this way, we ensure that the customer receives only high-quality products.
