The Grundens Ice Raider Jacket is a fishing jacket designed for extreme winter fishing and intended for the coldest and wettest conditions of the year. The jacket is an excellent fit for ice fishing trips in the hardest frosts and for winter boat fishing at sea, but it is equally functional for anyone who works or moves through long days in freezing temperatures and wind – on the ice, on deck or on the shore.

The jacket represents the highest level of Grundéns' winter range. Fishing on the ice and on winter water places two simultaneous demands on gear that are in practice opposites: it has to insulate when you sit still by the hole hour after hour, and let moisture out when you drill, move from one spot to the next or pull a sled. The Ice Raider is designed to answer both, so that one jacket carries you through the whole day without having to change a layer mid-trip.

The shell of the jacket is a 2.5-layer heavy-duty nylon material. Its water column is 25,000 mm and its breathability 15,000 g/m²/24 h. The high water column gives protection from snow, sleet and wet ice, while the breathability helps move body moisture outwards during more active phases. The construction of the jacket is also windproof, which is essential on open ice, where wind can lower the perceived temperature quickly.

Thermal insulation is provided by 80 g G-LOFT® Eco Plus insulation. The synthetic insulation gives warmth without an unnecessarily heavy construction and retains its insulating capacity even when damp. This tolerance for moisture is a useful property in winter fishing, because moisture can build up inside the garment as a result of active movement and temperature changes.

In the Ice Raider Jacket, the ThermoFloat construction is part of a package designed for winter fishing. A cut shaped to the movements of the body helps maintain mobility while drilling, walking, kneeling and in other active work on the ice. In this way warmth and weather protection can be combined without making the jacket unnecessarily stiff.

The cut is designed for the movements needed in winter fishing. Drilling, lifting gear, kneeling and handling fish all work without the jacket becoming clumsy because of the insulation. The overlapping neoprene cuff helps keep water and cold air out of the sleeves.

The Grundens Ice Raider Jacket is intended for the angler who needs one complete package for hard winter use. Together with the Ice Raider Bib it forms a technical winter fishing outfit in which weather protection, insulation and the needs of moving on the ice have been taken clearly further than in an ordinary winter jacket.
