The Gerber LST Mini is a tiny version of Gerber's classic model for everyday use. The original LST revolutionised the folding knife market in the 1980s by combining lightness, smooth operation and durability in one package. The LST Mini takes this idea to the extreme: a knife built small and light enough to fit in a stuffed pocket, purse or backpack compartment without taking up space.
The modified smooth wharncliffe-shaped blade is designed for precision cutting. The Wharncliffe design's straight cutting edge and tip in line with the back of the blade give the blade excellent controllability - this blade design is traditionally popular for all kinds of tasks where a precise and clean cut is required, such as opening packages, cutting string and small detailed jobs. The blade is 4.8 cm long and made of 440A stainless steel.Opening is easy through the thumb hole in the blade. The classic lockback locking mechanism holds the blade firmly in place during use, and the blade only opens when the lock is deliberately released. A sharpening choil at the base of the blade makes it easy to sharpen the blade evenly over its entire length.
The handle is made of fibreglass-reinforced nylon, which is light but strong and keeps a firm grip even in wet conditions. The knife weighs only 14 grams, so you'll hardly notice you're carrying it.
The handle features a grab tab handle with an attached retention cord to help you easily find the knife at the bottom of your backpack or bag. The tarrain also gives the small knife a little extra length in the grip, which helps with precision cuts.
