Gerber Downwind Drop Point Black is a fixed blade knife that combines classic looks with modern materials. The Downwind series has been designed to respect traditional knife design, while incorporating the best of today's solutions in terms of durability and performance.
The Drop Point blade is a versatile basic tool, equally suited to camping, game handling and everyday cutting tasks. The jimping on the back of the blade gives the thumb a firm grip, while the shaped recess on the front of the handle (control choil) allows you to shorten the grip for precision tasks. Together, these details give the knife good control in a variety of situations.
The handle grip plates are machined from multi-layered G-10 material. G-10 is a fiberglass-reinforced composite that is highly durable, moisture-repellent and retains its shape and feel even under heavy use. There is a cord hole at the end of the handle for attaching the handle.
The knife comes with a waxed butt guard, which gives the knife a traditional and dignified look. The waxing makes the sheath water and dirt repellent, and the material lasts well in use. The sheath will soften and patina with use, so the sheath will take on its own shape over time.
