The sizing of the photovoltaic system is done to suit your own electricity consumption. In practice, however, on sunny days, the system often produces more electricity than it needs, especially when no one is at home. Surplus electricity can then be smartly directed to, for example, heating water, the heating buffer tank, or the hybrid tank. Even in summer in Finland, the temperature differences between night and day can be large. In this case, the solar energy collected during the day can be stored in the water storage tank with the control of the Fronius Ohmpilot power controller and used to heat the house during the cooler night time. With the help of Ohmpilot's intelligent control, it is possible to produce even all the necessary hot domestic water during the summer for free with the help of solar energy.
Ohmpilot controls excess solar electricity to a resistive load, such as the charger's thermal resistors, steplessly between 0-9kW. In this way, the yield of the solar electricity system can be optimized by heating the service water or the water in the buffer tank for later use. If the household's main heating system is a modern heat pump, the solar electricity supply can be directed, for example, directly to the electrical resistance of the air-to-water heat pump, so the heat pump does not have to consume electricity to produce heat.
The Fronius Ohmpilot power controller is compatible with Fronius solar inverters.
