The Ekohytte Frost freezing toilet sets a new standard in the dry toilet sector. Its unrivalled value for money, refined design and, above all, superior energy efficiency make it the most sought-after dry toilet on the market.
For a holiday cottage or any other location without a mains drainage systemReady for immediate use, this freezing toilet requires no water connection, drainage or ventilation installation. All you need to do is plug the unit into a wall socket. Thanks to its portability and Plug&Play installation, it is the ideal choice for summer cottages and any space without a mains drainage system. The oval 21-litre inner container, located inside the toilet seat, is easy and hygienic to empty into a compost bin thanks to the biodegradable bag.
Superior energy efficiencyIn the design of the Ekohytte Frost freezing toilet, particular emphasis has been placed on energy efficiency. Optimised compressor technology and extra-thick insulation make the toilet extremely energy-efficient. The Ekohytte Frost’s energy consumption is just 0.36 kWh per day – only half that of comparable competing products. The thick insulation at the base of the toilet seat and the high adjustable legs allow the refrigerated toilet to be installed in a room with underfloor heating.
Luxury for the holiday homeThe Ekohytte Frost stands out from competing products thanks to its beautiful and minimalist design. User comfort is enhanced by the insulated seat ring and a lid fitted with a soft-close mechanism. A hot gas pipe running beneath the seat ring, which utilises waste heat from the compressor, heats the seat ring whilst the unit is running. This airtight and well-insulated unit does not run unnecessarily, and even when it is running, it is quiet.
Compact and durableDespite its compact size, the Ekohytte Frost is ergonomic to use and extremely sturdy. Its one-piece ABS plastic frame is lightweight and durable.

Before use - Once you have unpacked the product, check that it is not damaged. Contact your retailer if you notice any damage.
- Leave the unit in its normal position for at least half an hour. Any oil that may have leaked into the pipe during transport will then flow back into the compressor.
- The unit has adjustable feet. Adjust them before use so that the toilet is firmly in place and level.
- The toilet seat is intended for compostable waste, including toilet paper. Do not put anything in it that is not compostable, e.g. rubbish, sanitary towels, chemicals, detergents, matches, ash and cigarette ends.
Positioning The toilet should be placed in a warm indoor space. It can be used in a room with underfloor heating, as it has thick base insulation and high legs. Heat increases the unit’s electricity consumption, so we do not recommend placing it in the immediate vicinity of a radiator or other heat source. The optimum room temperature is +10 to +22 degrees, up to a maximum of +30 degrees. The toilet seat should be positioned horizontally and adjusted to a stable position using its legs.
Use- Press the base of the bio-bag against the bottom of the container and fold its ends over the top of the container so that the container can be dropped into the toilet seat
- Check that the bucket’s rim is on the inside so that the seat ring and lid fit securely
- Plug the unit into the wall socket and switch on the toilet seat using the switch so that the green indicator light comes on
- Wait about an hour before use
Emptying- When the bucket is about two-thirds full, the bio-bag needs changing
- Fold the top edges of the bio-bag into the container and lift the container out of the seat
- Compost the waste in a kitchen or garden waste composter, into which you have placed plenty of bedding material before emptying the waste
- Pierce the surface of the bag, e.g. with a pitchfork, and cover with a layer of bedding material
- Check whether ice has built up on the edges of the bucket’s basin. If necessary, melt the ice and dry the walls.
- Put a new bag in place
Use of beddingYou do not need to use bedding in a freeze-proof toilet. Bedding should only be added for post-composting.
CleaningClean the Ekohytte by wiping it with a damp cloth. You can use any standard household cleaning products. The bowl can be removed from the seat and washed with water. Dry it before putting it back in place. Do not use water to clean the rear wall. Clean it once a year by vacuuming it.
Longer periods of non-use- Unplug the appliance from the mains
- Empty, clean and dry the bowl and the cold water compartment
- Leave the lid open
- The appliance can be stored in an unheated room
