Handle your wooden cutting boards with care. Careful maintenance can significantly extend their service life. Wooden cutting boards need regular oiling to preserve their surface and prevent them from drying out. How often you do that depends entirely on how and how often the cutting board is used. Make sure you use food-grade oil and that the product is properly clean and dry before oiling. Never wash wooden kitchen utensils or cutting boards in the washing machine. Deep clean a wooden cutting board by following these instructions: rub coarse salt with half a lemon on the board. Lemon cleans and removes odors. Rinse thoroughly, first with warm (even hot) water, then with cold. Allow to dry in an upright position in an airy environment.
