This moisturising soap base, containing olive oil, gives the soap a lovely green hue. Perfect for homemade soaps that have a skin-softening effect.
Would you like to make homemade, luxurious soaps that are good for the skin? This soap base is just what you need. The base contains olive oil, which makes the soap particularly mild and moisturising. It also gives the soap a pale green colour, making it even more appealing. The base melts easily in a bain-marie, and you can add both colour and fragrance before pouring it into moulds. After an hour, the soap is ready to be removed from the mould – and after 24 hours, you’ll have a bar of soap that is both decorative and moisturising. The moisturising glycerine can cause the soap to ‘sweat’, as glycerine absorbs moisture from the air. Moisture may condense on the surface of the soap. To prevent sweating and ensure the soap lasts, follow the instructions carefully.
Creative possibilities and the making process:
- Make your own unique flower-shaped soaps – perfect as gifts
- Add essential oils to create a spa-like experience at home
- Combine dried flowers, glitter or colour to create a decorative look
- Make soaps in a well-ventilated, dry place
- Cut the soap mixture into small pieces and melt in a bain-marie (50–70 °C). Do not let the water in the bain-marie boil; the temperature of the soap base must not exceed 70–80 °C
- Stir the mixture whilst heating until it is completely liquid
- Pour the liquid mixture into silicone moulds and leave to set for about 1 hour before removing from the moulds
- Leave the soap to set for 24 hours on an absorbent surface (e.g. cardboard)
- Wrap the soap in tissue paper and store it in an airtight container or a cellophane bag. The perfect gift or for your own bathroom
- Use the soap in a self-draining soap dish to allow the water to drain away
