Hemp seeds are rich in essential fatty acids such as gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) and stearidonic acid (SDA), which are important omega-3 fatty acids for the body. The fatty acids in hemp seeds are in an optimal ratio of 3:1 (omega-6 and omega-3). In addition, hemp has a lot of vitamin E, which acts as an antioxidant.
Hemp protein contains all the essential amino acids that the horse's body needs. Hemp also provides arginine amino acids, which contribute to the formation of important nitric oxide and thus good blood flow. Hemp protein consists of high-quality edestin and albumin, which are easily absorbed and do not contain trypsin inhibitors.
The carbohydrate in hemp consists entirely of fiber, of which 24 g is insoluble and 6 g is soluble fiber. The high fiber content helps balance the horse's abdominal function.
Chia de Gracia hemp seeds can be fed as such or mixed with other feed. The dosage depends on the weight and level of exertion of the horse. For example, a 500-kilogram horse is given 0.5 dl to 8 dl of seeds daily. Cannabinoids in hemp products are not recommended for racehorses or are only recommended for use after withdrawal periods.
