The Carcassonne base game is required to play this add-on. You can also combine this with other Carcassonne add-ons.
In this Carcassonne add-on, new buildings transform the landscape. Properly placed bridges will enhance your roads, castle bridges will flank knights, and peasants can move to barns to score extra points.
Summary of the add-on:
- Bridges connect 2 fields on opposite sides of the field so that a road (aka bridge) is built over the tile. The bridge (or under it) can have a follower placed on it by normal rules. Each bridge that is part of a road gives the player 3 points when that road is scored. At the end of the game, an unscored bridge is worth 1 point.
- Barns are built in a common corner of four tiles, all of which must contain only a field, and this field must contain at least one of the player's own peasants, who are moved onto the barn to lie down. The player then scores a point for each pawn on the board (regardless of their player colour).
- Castles can be placed on top of a newly built 2 piece city. A follower in or placed in the city becomes a castle. When scoring fields, castles count as normal cities (i.e. they score 3 points).
- A castle maiden can be returned from the castle back to the player's inventory if the player does not place a follower in turn (or take an Apotia back to their inventory). In this case, the player gets a point for the removed castle maiden and for each castle maiden and knight on the board (regardless of their player colour).
