Bushmen ULTRA Tarp 4 × 3 m is a spacious but still ultra-light tarp for hammock camping, group use and as a versatile additional shelter in camp. The rectangular tarp provides ample coverage and flexibility for set-up, making it ideal for solo or multi-person use.
The tarp is made from durable 20D ripstop silnylon, and the attachment points are reinforced with Dyneema reinforcements. The tarp alone weighs around 540g, but provides up to around 12 m² of shelter. This makes the model an excellent choice when space and protection are needed without a large weight allowance.
The ULTRA Tarp 4 × 3 m has a total of 16 attachment points, three of which are located on the central seam ridge and are specially reinforced. The anchorage points allow a wide range of set-up options for different terrains and weather conditions. The taped centre seam improves waterproofing and increases durability for long-term use.
The spaciousness of the tarp makes it ideal for group use, as a hammock or as a loose shelter for the solo hiker.
The tarp is supplied as a complete kit, including 6 pcs of 3 m long attachment pegs with sliding buckles. The sliding buckles allow quick and easy tightening without the need for knots. They also act as a safety mechanism: when overloaded, the buckle lets the cord slip, which helps to prevent damage to the tarp, for example in high winds or sudden pulls.
If the cord comes loose from the hook, it can be re-installed by lifting up the flap of the hook and sliding the cord back into place.
The ULTRA series of tarps are designed for the lightweight and packable user. The construction does not include heavy reinforcements, so careful handling is important. The tarp is not designed to withstand heavy loads or extremely high winds. The use of rubber straps is recommended as they absorb sudden pulls and can prolong the life of the tarp.
The compact packing bag supplied as a set is equipped with three loops to attach the bag to a backpack or rucksack. Packing a wet tarp into a tight bag can be challenging, so careful rolling and folding will make packing easier.
