With the Beurer PO 45 pulse oximeter, you can easily measure arterial blood oxygen saturation (SpO2), heart rate (PRbpm) and perfusion index (PI). Oxygen saturation indicates the percentage of haemoglobin in the arterial blood that is oxygen-bound. It is therefore an important parameter for assessing respiratory function. As oxygen flows through the lungs, haemoglobin binds oxygen to red blood cells. Oxygen saturation decreases mainly as a result of various diseases (respiratory diseases, asthma, heart failure, etc.). People with low oxygen saturation often experience symptoms such as shortness of breath, increased heart rate, reduced performance, nervousness and sweating. Chronic, established low oxygen saturation should be self-monitored with a pulse oximeter as directed by your doctor. The pulse oximeter is therefore particularly suitable for people at risk, such as those with heart disease or asthma, but also for athletes and healthy people who exercise at high altitudes (e.g. mountaineers, skiers or sports pilots).
