The world's best architects want to show off their skills. Hire the most skilled builders and make sure they are always paid in their home currency. Win the competition for the most beautiful palace by building the most valuable Alhambra!
Alhambra is essentially a tile-setting game where players build the palace of the medieval Arabic city of Alhambra. The most successful builder wins, naturally. Success is measured by points earned by building a majority of different building types. Alhambra combines tile stacking, majority accumulation and a rather original tile-buying mechanism.
Money buys tiles: four different tiles are available at any one time, one for each currency. In Alhambra, there is no money exchange. If you pay too much, you pay too much, and you don't get your money back. That's why it pays to withdraw change! If you pay in even money, you get an important bonus: an extra shift. If you buy a second time with even money, you get an extra turn - you can clear the table in one turn, if you happen to have enough money in your pocket.
Alhambra is also perfect for those who are less into games, although there is plenty to bite into for those who are more into strategy games. Alhambra is a game that can be enjoyed by a wide range of audiences.
It's no wonder that the game once won the Spiel des Jahres, the German family games award.
The 2025 edition comes with 4 additional parts:
The Vizier's service brings with it the option to buy a tile on another player's turn, but this must be done for even money.
The tiles are tiles with 1-2 masonry sides and are placed outside the Alhambra. A player scores points by building building tiles on a row and/or column of camp tiles.
Bazaars give players points if they are surrounded by building tiles of a specific color.
Hunting hawks are tiles that can be placed at the intersection of four tiles, provided only that the building tiles are the correct color for the hawks.
