V8 engines with their iconic roar are synonymous with car power. Thanks to the balanced V-configuration of two rows of four cylinders, V8 engines vibrate less than six-cylinder engines, allowing for a larger engine and more horsepower. Patented in 1902 by French engineer Léon Levavasseur, the V8 is best known for the power it brings to muscle cars, but did you know that V8 engines were first widely used in powerboats and have also been seen in aircraft and motorcycles? For years, car enthusiasts and model builders have been asking us for an intricate engine model, and here it is: the Ugears V8 Engine!

The V8 Engine is a 1:6 scale model that runs on either an electric motor or by turning a knob, allowing you to follow the hypnotic action of this iconic internal combustion engine. The model perfectly reproduces all the main mechanisms of a real V8: eight cylinders with pistons that move in rhythm, two cylinders "fire" for every 90 degrees of crankshaft rotation, 16 spring-loaded valves open and close by the push of the camshaft cams, the crankcase and valve train are connected by a manifold chain, and the intake manifold has a throttle valve. The model is powered by an electric motor in the form of a generator. A multi-pulley belt connects the crankshaft pulley to a number of pulleys representing the engine's auxiliary equipment, such as the air conditioning compressor, charger, power steering pump and water pump. Connect the model to the power supply with a USB-C cable and turn the power switch to the "on" position to see the engine come to life, or twist the knob under the switch to manually start the V8 engine.

Other amazingly realistic details include stylized exhaust manifolds, spark plugs, oil pan, oil cap, and oil and brake fluid filler caps. The model is assembled in stages - first the cylinder block, then the valve covers - which helps you understand how the engine works. The rubber belt at the front of the engine is easy to replace, and the rubber link on the throttle valve can also be replaced by removing the intake manifold. The timing chain has 32 links, and its tension can be adjusted with two tensioners to ensure the chain is neither too loose nor too tight.
Ugears' V8 Engine is a sophisticated build kit aimed at experienced model builders. Your reward for your hard work will be a deeper understanding of internal combustion engine operation as you build and operate this highly realistic wooden engine model. This complex 3D jigsaw engine can be assembled without glue or special tools by following step-by-step, illustrated instructions; instructions are in 11 languages (English, Ukrainian, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Japanese, Chinese and Korean). The parts are made of art-quality composite wood and are removed from laser-cut sheets. Carefully sand and lubricate all moving parts with the included sandpaper and wax (or other lubricant of your choice) to ensure optimum engine operation.

You can leave the model in a spectacular natural wood colour or paint or stain it - perhaps marking different kits and components in different colours (paints not included).
