The popular jacket has many names, such as a guerilla jacket, a turncoat, a rollover jacket, a break jacket, a passport jacket.
Origopro started producing guerilla jackets in 2015 from surplus fabric bought from the defense forces. Back then, the jacket was a new production made according to the original model.
The jacket has developed into a modern "Survival and Rescue" jacket, as Mika Kalakoski, the director of the Finnish Meteorological Institute's 2019 expedition to Antarctica, who was involved in the product development, enthuses.
Mika's experience of surviving in cold climates and experience of hunting are packed into the jacket in abundance.
Super light ripstop polyamide fabric reinforced with carbon fiber has been selected as the outer material of the jacket. Climashield® Apex 3oz (102g/m2) wadding from the USA has been used as insulation. The same insulation is also used by the US Army in its sleeping bags and other extreme winter equipment.
The insulation is made of long filament fibers, which means that the insulation does not need to be quilted to the fabric, but can be sewn from its edges to the seams with the outer fabric. When there is no need for quilting, there are also no pinholes that allow wind and drafts to pass through. While the weight of the insulation of the old guerilla jacket was 130g/m2 and the CLO value of the insulation used in it was about 1.0, Climashield® Apex is 30% lighter (102g/m2) and CLO 2.4 (2.4 times more insulating).
The jacket can be shortened to hip length with buttons or worn as a long jacket.
There are three versions of the jacket:
The SurRes, Survival & Rescue jacket can be kept with you on the trip and used when needed. The M05 forest pattern helps camouflage and the orange reverse stands out from its surroundings. There is no polyurethane coating on the back of the orange fabric and it is breathable. The terrain pattern fabric has a very thin PU brush to provide protection from the rain. Both fabrics are finished with water, dirt and oil repellent treatment. Highly sought after as a passport jacket.
The Long Range Patrol jacket has M05 forest pattern printed on one side and M05 snow pattern printed on the other side. The forest pattern printed fabric has a light PU brush and the snow pattern fabric is polyurethane-free. A very versatile jacket for winter terrain.
The black / Ranger green jacket is a trial version for an urban environment.
